Kate Jones is a Consultant, author and historian. She presently serves as North America Editor for World Media, covering US, UK and Middle East affairs.
She began her career as a TV news producer with Sky News in London, where she covered notable events, including the Scott Inquiry (‘Arms to Iraq’) and the IRA mortar attacks on Heathrow Airport. She also spent time as acting executive producer at London cable news venture Channel One.
Kate collaborated on the book ‘The Edge of War’ – an historical account of the Kuwaiti resistance movement during the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait in 1990. In the course of her research for the book, which was commissioned by the Kuwaiti royal family and featured a foreword from President George H. W. Bush, Ms. Jones interviewed numerous high profile figures from government and the military. These included: two former United States Secretaries of State, a former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, five former United States ambassadors, and numerous other senior United States and international officials. In May 2016, the revised (Arabic) edition of the book was adopted as a standard text in the Kuwaiti national curriculum.
Her current areas of interest are centered around UK and US politics, Middle East affairs, including conflict zones, radicalization, violent extremism, counterterrorism, intelligence and cybersecurity.
Ms. Jones holds a degree in Communications, magma cum laude, from Temple University and is a member of the National Press Club in Washington, DC, and the University Women’s Club in London. She lives in the New York metro area with her husband, a hedge fund executive, and their children.
